Our name comes from two ideas we love. Meraki means doing something with soul, creativity, or love—pouring yourself into the work. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold so that the repairs are celebrated, a visible and beautiful part of the object’s history, making it more meaningful than before.

Merakintsugi is our way of saying that we handle our paper and textiles with that same care, honoring their stories and helping them become part of something new in the hands of today’s artists.

what we curate

at merakintsugi, we bring together two kinds of handmade art: the authentic, pre-machine illustrations and layouts from long ago, and the beautiful pages artists today create with their own hands. We curate real vintage images (not computer-generated artwork) so modern artists can build new, heartfelt work on top of old, human-made beauty. alongside our paper archive, we also gather designer and often discontinued pattern rich textile samples. tactile finds that bring texture, color, and a second life to journals, artwork, and handmade projects.
